Project Sleipnir:
History:
First I want to preface this by giving a little history on the name. The Sleipnir is the Clan Hell's Horses flagship, it is a Cameron class Warship, hence fitting for the new computer I will be building and hopefully without the issues the Cameron class series had on their first run ha.
Description:
So this will be kind of an end all be all type of computer to showcase the skills I have in building computers to clients. Everything (or at least as money allows) will be custom from the cooling solution (which will be water cooling) to the wiring (everything will be sleeved by me and custom wire lengths from the Power Supply Unit to the devices). Also I have been keeping computers for over five years with only minor upgrades (current computer is roughly six years old with only two video card upgrades and a RAM upgrade). So I want something that again will last that long if not longer, ideally longer but it all will be easy to replace parts as needed (aside from the time required to make new cabling).
Parts:
Case:
Mountain Mods
Extended Ascension CYO - Custom Computer Case
- Window Etching: 3 Windows
- Front Panel Type: Standard
- Back Panel Type: Horizon 10
- Side 2: Big Window Panel
- Side 3: Big Window Panel
- Side 1: Big Window Panel
- Motherboard Tray: HPTX
- Acrylic Color: Clear
- Finish: Anodize Black
Base:
Mountain Mods
- Finish: Anodize Black
- Bottom Panel Type: Smiley

- Side 2: Triple Quad
Misc:
Mountain Mods
2 x Lamptron Illuminated Anti-Vandal Switch - Red/Black (Momentary)
10 x Mountain Mods ALU (Anodized BlacK) 5-1/4 bay cover
All together the case will be 3.5' tall x 1.5' Wide x 2' deep a monster of a computer just like the Sleipnir Warship. This will allow anything and everything I could ever think of and imagine to be placed into the case, these cases can be configured with the proper backplane to hold two computers at one time. The image used for the window etching is the Clan Hell's Horses logo, ideally I would have loved to get a different image on each window but never did get a reply from them on that.
Cooling Solution
As mentioned earlier this will be a water cooled solution. Why? As my house is a constant 21C in the summer time and 23C in the winter time, so in theory I should be able to keep the parts at an idle only a few degrees warmer than ambient. Also noise, case fans are way too loud now days unless using Noctua fans, which I will be anyways but there is no real elegant way to control them based on load of the system.
