Since some haven't heard the news, I will post it here. Hairbrained Schemes which was founded by Jordan Weisman (creator of BattleTech https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Weisman) who has also done the Shadow Run reboot. We will know more about the game next month would be my guess as it is going to Kickstarter in Fall of 2015, keep an eye on http://www.battletechgame.com for more information and as I find more information I will post it here.

TACTICAL ‘MECH COMBAT RETURNS TO THE PC. Harebrained Schemes is pleased to announce their return to Kickstarter this Fall to partner with backers in co-funding the creation of BATTLETECH. Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, is back with the first turn-based BattleTech game for PC in over two decades. Steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the BattleTech universe, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG ‘Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.

The BATTLETECH Kickstarter comes on the heels of the wildly successful crowdfunding campaign for Shadowrun: Hong Kong, which Harebrained Schemes will deliver as promised on August 20, 2015. Harebrained Schemes is one of the industry’s most dynamic independent game studios. The Seattle-based developer made headlines with its two previous Kickstarter successes: the visionary, digitally-enhanced miniatures boardgame Golem Arcana, and Shadowrun Returns, one of the first videogame Kickstarter projects to exceed one million dollars in funding.

Harebrained Schemes is thrilled to announce BATTLETECH at GenCon – GenCon attendees were among the earliest supporters of the franchise, and many milestones in BattleTech’s history took place at this legendary game convention. BATTLETECH will be coming to Kickstarter this fall, but visitors to Harebrained Schemes’ booth at Gen Con will have the opportunity to become early supporters of the project and receive an exclusive BattleTech collectible. Players can also sign up to join the BATTLETECH mailing list at

No more giving money away to new games for me. Learned my lession there. Maybe once it has been out for a year or so as an "offical release" then I will give it a try

Thanks for the info Dark, its nice to see the founder of Battletech himself is going to handle this project. I firmly believe he will create a version of the game that is more fitting and true to the spirit of the original tabletop game. Don't worry about buying in BK, if its any good we will let you know I'm sure :p

Yup if it was anyone else I would be worried, but being who it is I'm not too worried. Their Shadowrun series has been getting great reviews (which I'll most likely get on the next steam sale). I don't mind them sharing art assets with PGI as that will only help both companies out.

As pointed out its the creator of Battletech doing the game, if anyone can make a good game it's him. He is also the guy who founded FASA Interactive which help on Mechcommander, so the guy has background to making good games.

with today's game market and the way companies do business those facts are moot. Like I said, I will wait and see

This just proves what a whore dark really is, cause ya know this isnt the first time he is "in for the top tier package".
Sick bastard.

Got the MechWarrior package for the Battletech kickstarter. It has the most in-game content without real-world goodies.

Not that I would hate having a Marik banner to hang on my wall...but if I was going to hang a banner there, it would have a decidedly equestrian theme. ;)

What Aethon said...

Crotchety old MrHumble would have made a great merc character though (the old one...)...but couldn't quite bring myself to do that ;)
